Phil Anaya is a weekend anchor at KENS 5 in San Antonio, Texas. He comes to KENS 5 from the "Land of Enchantment." Born and raised in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Phil grew up playing soccer and left the state to attend Valparaiso University in northwest Indiana. Getting the opportunity to play Division I soccer is one of his most memorable moments.
After two years at Valpo, Phil transferred to New Mexico State University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in journalism and mass communications with a minor in marketing. While still in college, Phil was able to gain some very valuable experience working as a multimedia journalist for KMSB in Tucson.
After graduating in May 2009, Phil went straight to work as a bureau reporter for KFOX in El Paso, Texas. There he covered everything from severe weather to politics all across southern New Mexico territory. Phil made his jump to San Antonio in June 2011.
Phil is the proud father of three boys, Elijah, Phillip and Noel. He loves spending time with his children and considers them his pride and joy. Phil will also tell you that becoming a father has made him a better journalist.
When not working, Phil can be found spending time with his family at a variety of places across San Antonio. One of their favorite spots is The DoSeum.
