Mike Vigil is a photojournalist at KENS 5 in San Antonio, Texas. He joined the KENS 5 team in September 2019.
Mike came to KENS 5 after spending two and a half years working along the border in El Paso, Texas, as a photojournalist and assignments editor. While there, he extensively covered immigration issues throughout West Texas and Southern New Mexico, as well as anything and everything affecting the border community.
Before his time in El Paso, Mike worked in radio at KSWV in Santa Fe, New Mexico, doing everything from co-hosting the morning show to producing commercials and running social media from the radio station.
Since starting in news, Mike mostly enjoys telling the stories of unique people doing unique things to make our community a better place, whether it be art, music or entrepreneurship.
Born and raised in Taos, New Mexico, Mike grew up playing sports and skiing every chance he got. After graduating from Taos High School in 2015, Mike attended New Mexico State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communications in May 2019.
While not working, Mike enjoys taking photos, playing basketball and exploring everything that San Antonio and its surrounding communities have to offer.
