Meagan Massey is a meteorologist at KENS 5 in San Antonio, Texas. She joined the KENS 5 weather team in August 2019.
Meagan is no stranger to forecasting weather across the Lone Star State. Prior to KENS 5, she was the weekday morning meteorologist at KCEN in Temple. Like most meteorologists, Meagan’s passion for weather sparked at a young age. She would stand on the front porch with her dad and watch thunderstorms pass.
She was born and raised in Dallas, where weather can get extreme at times. In fact, on December 26, 2015, a large wedge tornado missed her parents' house by a few blocks.
Her passion for weather grew in high school, when she would tell her weather story on the morning announcements. After TV production classes in high school, she attended Mississippi State University and majored in Broadcast Meteorology.
She was the president of the East Mississippi Chapter of the NWA and AMS, where she helped organize the Southeast Severe Storms Symposium. Meagan also launched weather balloons for the National Weather Service in Memphis, Tennessee, to help issue severe weather watches.
Meagan interned at WFAA in Dallas during the stormiest year on record for Dallas-Fort Worth. She also interned with Nashville Severe Weather Blog and KAIT in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Outside of weather, she was a Girl Scout for thirteen years and earned the Girl Scout Gold Award. She is a huge advocate for STEM careers and Clear the Shelters. To this day she enjoys volunteering with Relay for Life, American Cancer Society, Salvation Army and Girl Scouts. She loves sharing her passion for weather in the community at classroom talks and local events.
During her free time, she loves spending time with her dog, hiking, camping, watching football and exploring San Antonio. Meagan is a huge fan of the Dallas Cowboys and loves living close to family in Texas!
