Mariah Medina is an investigative reporter for KENS 5 in San Antonio, Texas. Mariah joined KENS 5 in September 2019.
Mariah spent more than five years in the news business as a digital content producer and assignment editor, finding creative ways to tell stories online while also tracking breaking news in San Antonio.
Mariah got her start in reporting about the Alamo City at the San Antonio Express-News as an intern and then as a weekend crime reporter. Working the weekend crime beat, Mariah developed an interest in hard-hitting news.
Before interning at the Express-News, Mariah was a sports writer, helping cover the San Antonio Spurs and Stars for Project Spurs. Now, Mariah continues to track the Spurs – but as a fan (a really big fan.)
Mariah is a San Antonio native. She graduated from Tom C. Clark High School in 2013 before heading to Texas State University, where she was a member of the Texas State Strutters, president of the Delta Gamma sorority’s Zeta Eta chapter and Assistant Sports Editor at the University Star. She’s currently working toward her law degree at St. Mary’s University School of Law.
Mariah enjoys telling stories in her community, fighting for the underdog and getting results. When she’s not digging up the next news story or studying in the classroom, she’s exploring the newest restaurants in San Antonio, relaxing with her dog named Bean, and hanging out with her family.
