Evan Closky is a weekend sports anchor and multimedia journalist for KENS 5 in San Antonio, Texas.
He joined the KENS 5 team in July 2018 from KREM-TV, also a TEGNA station, in Spokane, Washington.
Evan has bounced around quite a bit after earning his bachelor of arts degree in journalism from The Ohio State University. He started his career at KVRR-TV in Fargo, North Dakota, as a weekend sports anchor and reporter. After covering a couple of NDSU national championships and watching future Eagles QB Carson Wentz as a backup for the Bison, he packed his bags and went west to the beautiful Inland Northwest.
In Spokane, Evan earned multiple EMMY nominations for his anchoring and reporting at KREM-TV. He also earned a Regional Murrow Award in 2016 for Excellence in Writing. Evan has had the pleasure of covering Gonzaga’s 2016 National Championship appearance in Phoenix. He also enjoyed his four years heading to Pullman to check in on Mike Leach and his Washington State football team.
Evan is originally from New York but couldn't be more excited to call the Alamo City his home. Evan loves spending time with his friends and family. He also loves playing any sport, lying out by a pool somewhere and checking out any food place in town. He welcomes ALL suggestions!
