Brandon Roddy is a correspondent for GDSA and a sportscaster for KENS 5 in San Antonio, Texas.
Even though Brandon is from Peoria, Illinois, he is no stranger to the great city of San Antonio. He has called this city “home” since moving here in 2006.
Before he got into television, Brandon signed with the University of Mississippi out of high school and played football in the SEC. He played with Eli Manning (although he would probably tell you that Eli played with him) and the Mississippi Rebels for three years before he transferred to Murray State University to finish out his playing career. He won a conference championship, beating Tony Romo and the Eastern Illinois Panthers in the last game of the regular season.
It was at Murray State that Brandon realized television was the future he wanted for himself. After graduation, Brandon visited family in San Antonio, where he met the former news director for KENS 5. It wasn’t long before Brandon started working as a production assistant for KENS 5 in 2009, running studio cameras, shooting video and editing footage. After two years behind the camera, Brandon got a chance to perform on air.
Brandon is the correspondent, editor and photographer for the No. 1 morning lifestyle show in San Antonio: Great Day SA. His passion still lies in sports – you’ll find Brandon giving you the latest in sports for Great Day SA and KENS 5 morning newscasts. Brandon continues to learn the ins and outs of the television business and strives to be the best in his field.
Being a sports reporter doesn’t come naturally to Brandon – when you watch him on air, he is literally speaking from his own experience. Brandon is grateful every day that he gets to work with wonderful people, entertaining the city that welcomed him as a son.
Brandon looks forward to hearing a story from everyone he meets. So if you see him in the streets, say hello! He is sure to help you have a Great Day!
