Monica Nino is the Assistant News Director at KENS 5 in San Antonio, Texas.
She has been with KENS 5 since 2014 and held roles as Senior Executive Producer and morning news Executive Producer before taking on her current role in July 2022.
Nino is an Emmy Award-winning journalist. Her passion for breaking news and continuing coverage earned her two Emmys in 2022.
Prior to joining KENS 5, Nino worked at CNN/HLN in Atlanta, where she produced Weekend Express with Lynn Berry and Morning Express with Robin Meade. While there, she covered the Malaysia flight disappearances, the Ebola outbreak, the rise of Isis and the conflict in Ukraine.
Previously, she was an Executive Producer at WOAI in San Antonio and a morning show producer at KEYE in Austin.
She was born and raised in San Antonio and loves sharing the stories of her hometown.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Relations and Spanish from Texas State University and is a proud graduate of O’Connor High School. Go Bobcats and Panthers!
In her spare time, she volunteers with the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, and she loves being with her family and spoiling her black Labrador, Olive.
