Casey Viera joined the KENS 5 sports team in January 2022 as an anchor and reporter and is thrilled to be in the Alamo City, a place he feels adopted since moving here in Fall 2018.
He comes by way of the East Coast, born and raised in both New Jersey and New York. It was while attending Hofstra University that he discovered his true love: sports broadcasting. He likes to say he wasn’t necessarily good at anything except talking about useless sports knowledge growing up, so why not make a career of it?
After spending four years primarily working in sports at WRHU, Hofstra’s award-winning student radio station, Casey got “his foot in the door” working behind the scenes for CBS Sports Network.
His on-air career in sports broadcasting began in August 2014 and has included working in Springfield, MA (WGGB), El Paso (KFOX/KDBC), Shreveport (KSLA) and a competing station in San Antonio.
Along the way, he met his wife, an area native, and he ultimately married into a city he sees as a true home. Now a son-in-law of an ex-high school football coach in the city, it was the perfect transition to the sports scene, too!
When he's not talking about sports, you can find Casey running the trails, enjoying the Riverwalk or spending time with his family and his dog at The Pearl.
