Early Thursday morning, investigators said the shooter, 22-year-old Jailen Michael Collins, was confronted by the two victims and initially responded with shots in the air.

Police said the shooter then attempted to leave the area in a black four-door vehicle, but the two men, identified as 19-year-old James Berg and 23-year-old Drevonte King, followed him.

A struggle began over the gun and Berg sustained gunshot wounds to both hands.

King was shot in the abdomen.

Both victims were transported to University Hospital in stable condition.

The shooter was arrested at Pearsall Park, a few blocks away. Police couldn't find a weapon and were last reported searching the park.

Collins was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
