There were no crowd estimates provided by organizers of this years 113th Annual Washington Birthday Celebration Grand Parade, but the streets of Laredo, Texas were lined six rows deep with spectators and their families. Many arriving hours earlier to claim the best vantage locations.
Like in previous years, people had to park on the off ramps of IH-35 in order to get close to the morning event. The parade started at 9 am and had over 180 entries including the Anheuser-Busch Clydesdales who won this year's Washington Birthday parade trophy.
The WBCA parade has grown each year and is considered one of the most colorful and diversified event throughout the State. U.S. Representative, Henry Cuellar and Senator Judith Zaffirini were among many other public officials taking part.
Mayor Julian Castro was another participant riding on a decorated flatbed float with the symbolic replica of the Alamo.
Slated for Saturday night was the Jalapeno eating contest and additional entertainment which brought this year's successful celebration to a close.
