On March 24, 2000, my father, Alfred V. Guerra was finally honored when he received his combat medals for serving our country during WWII in the South Pacific Campaign against the Japanese. My father was also interviewed by then, KENS 5 reporter, Itza Gutierrez for receiving his honors at the VFW Post 76. Congressman Charles Gonzalez was a major part in recognizing my father for his service to his country by presenting the medals to him during this ceremony. May we never forget what our veterans do for us and why we have the freedoms we have today.
