He join the army air force in 1940 training at Kelly Field San Antonio Texas In 1944 he was sent to England and station at an air base near London. From there he made raids over the Europen contiment in B-17s. (Flying Fortresses) He was the top gunner.After 11 mission on may 27 1944 he paid the supreme Sacrifice when two Fortresses collided in nid-air over the French coast town of Dieppe.T.SGT. Sweatt was in one of them He was listed as missing for 7 months before his death was officially confirmen. The Air Medal eith 2 Oak Leaf Clusters was awarded him after his death.
