#SafePlaceSelfie campaign encourages severe weather preps

The National Weather Service is encouraging people to be prepared when severe weather hits by knowing where to find a "safe place" to take shelter.

From April 3-6, NWS is asking Twitter users to tweet a photo of themselves in their safe place using the hashtag #SafePlaceSelfie.

For example, NWS San Antonio tweeted a photo of people demonstrating "turn around, don't drown" by showing a low-water crossing in their rear-view mirror.

NWS said it will share some of the most creative selfies from the @NWS Twitter account.

There will also be a #SafePlaceSelfie live tweet chat on Thursday from noon to 1 p.m. CST.
