Though the driver was injured, you could call him very lucky. That's because his pickup truck was impaled on a guard rail, but he still managed to walk away.

Police say the driver fell asleep at the wheel and crashed on I-37 near Loop 410 at around 7 a.m. Monday morning.

The guardrail went clear through he cab and out the back of the truck.

Amazingly,  it missed the driver. Two witnesses ran over and pulled the man out before the vehicle burst into flames.

The man was taken to SAMMC with a broken leg. He is in stable condition.
