BUENOS AIRES -- An 81-year-old grandmother celebrated International Women's Day by skydiving over the Argentine Pampas outside of Buenos Aires on Monday.

A grandmother of seven, Virginia Stefanuto left her family on the ground as she flew thousands of feet into the air and jumped from a plane.

A guide connected to Stefanuto by a system of straps assured the parachute unfolded properly and the two touched down with ease.

Born in Italy in 1929, Stefanuto, who moved to Argentina at the age of 21, still works as the head of factory she and late husband started decades ago.
