In the shallow water of Lake Superior, owner and pet find a temporary peace. Floating together, the aging, arthritic dog finds temporary relief from pain.
John Unger adopted Schoep 18 years ago and now time is taking its toll. He takes the dog to the lake nearly every day now.
"I can only give him what I can, and he’s always given me his all," said Unger.
