SAN ANTONIO -- Amid severe weather and several high water rescues, there is one group of people who never forgot about Bexar County's furry residents: The Von Ormy Animal Control staff worked straight through Saturday's flash floods.
One officer and the director of the department were out on their daily patrol when they discovered a donkey stuck in a fast-moving river. The officer, Shela Shoults, jumped in to the water to help pull the distressed animal to safety.
Both employees walked the donkey through the storm and towards their animal control facility. The donkey is currently recovering there and will be OK.
