A car sideswiped a fire truck on the northwest side, pinning the man in his 60’s driving the car under the fire truck.
The accident happened at Fredericksburg Road near Edison.
The San Antonio Fire Department says that it took 12 minutes to extract the driver from his vehicle because of the extensive damage to the car and to the fire truck.
SAFD Chief Charles Hood said that the driver of the car was transported to a nearby hospital in “critical” condition.
No firefighters were hurt in the accident but the fire truck was significantly damaged. The fire truck was less than a year old and cost an estimated $700,000 to $1 million according to Chief Hood.
