SAN ANTONIO -- The St. Mary's University law student arrested last week on murder charges refused extradition to Louisiana Thursday.
Matthew Alexander, 29, was arrested on the west-side campus Aug. 13 as he was exiting one of his classes, according to a press release sent out by the private university. Alexander was being held at the Bexar County jail on two counts of second-degree murder, one count of simple arson and an aggravated arson charge.
Louisiana authorities later clarified that Alexander was wanted for two attempted murder charges, arson and aggravated arson.
Alexander's bond was set at $1 million after he refused extradition to Monroe, La.
The accused killer is in his second year of law school at STMU and was living on campus, in Chaminade Hall, during the summer.
The university said it's evaluating Alexander's status as a student.
