New numbers released by the FBI show overall crime in Texas is down. While that's good news, crimes targeting people because of their race, religion and sexuality have increased.
According to the Crimes in Texas Annual Report 2010, hate crimes in Texas have slightly increased.
The FBI is reporting that in 2010 hate crimes went up by 2.4 percent.
It also reports that most anti-homosexual crimes are against men.
It also reveals that 28.7 percent of hate crimes are vandalism, while 21.6 percent involve intimidation and 29.8 percent are designated as simple assault.
Most hate crimes are committed against an individual (88.9 percent).
As for who is committing the crimes? According to the report, 50.6 percent of hate crime offenders are white and 11.3 percent are black.
