SANANTONIO -- A family living near Thousand Oaksis mourning the loss of their 4-year-old miniature schnauzer after they say someone fed him anti-freeze.

Olivia Joseph came home Tuesday evening to find Chestnut showing signs of discomfort.

He was there wobbling like he's drunk. He couldn't breathe so we rushed him to the vet, said Joseph, who lives in the Eden subdivision.

By the time doctors examined Chestnut, his kidneys had failed and he was suffering from seizures.

Chestnut survived through the night, but on Wednesday, his fourth birthday, the Joseph family made the difficult decision to put him to sleep.

A veterinarian told the family it appeared someone had fed Chestnut dog treats dipped in anti-freeze.

I'm scared for my life; for me and my kids, Joseph said. If they can do that to my dog, imagine what they would do to us here.

The homeowner said Chestnut's poisoning is the latest in a bizarre string of incidents at her home.

Several months ago someone used a pellet gun to shoot holes through the windows of Olivia'sJeep.

Recently, bricks were stolen from the family's garden.

Olivia said all three incidents have been reported to the San Antonio Police Department.

David Parry, president of the Eden Homeowner's Association, said the group has looked at security enhancements for the subdivision.

Two years ago, San Antonio police investigated several incidents of ducks and turtles being shot with blow darts at the neighborhood's recreational pond.

No arrests were ever made.
