SAN ANTONIO -- City leaders are gearing up for the big celebration after the Spurs 5th NBA Championship title win.

But with all the excitement, they still have two main concerns, parking and the weather.

City leaders are asking parade-goers to come hydrated since they expect it to be a very hot day. As far as parking, they've planned many options for people to avoid a traffic mess.

It was a serene evening along the San Antonio River Walk on Tuesday but in less than 24 hours, the Spurs 5th NBA Championship River Parade Celebration will bring proud San Antonians, as well as many visitors into downtown.

It's really exciting we are happy to be a part of it, said Evonee Alles, who is planning on attending the River Parade.

Evonee Alles and Kelly Welling just so happen to be in town for a conference.

We will definitely check it out, said Welling.

The last championship was 7 years ago we have more Spurs fans, said Lori Houston, Director of the Center City Development and Operations Department for San Antonio.

City leaders have been preping for a massive crowd, and are asking people to show up as early as 4:00 p.m.

You can sit along the banks of the San Antonio river areas along Arneson all the way to Convent, said Houston.

To avoid a traffic headache the city advises people to use the VIA shuttles.

(Shuttles) will take you from AT&T center to downtown, said Houston.

People also have the option of watching the parade live inside the Alamodome where the celebration will continue soon after the parade ends.

There will be a pep rally at 9 p.m., said Houston.

So the city asks that you bring your Spurs spirit and gear but leave your alcohol and chest coolers at home.

SAPD has also prepared for the event. Extra officers will be working to make sure the celebration is fun and safe.
