GARLAND - A Garland mother was taken into custody after she allegedly made a false report that led police on a nearly two-hour search late Monday night.

By air and ground, Garland officers scoured the area after receiving a 911 call from the mother at about 9:30 p.m. The woman claimed her 3-year-old son had vanished while she and her husband were at a laundromat in the 4400 block of Walnut Street.

Searching for clues, officers looked at surveillance tape from the laundromat, which is when according to police, they saw the mother walking out of the laundromat with the boy earlier in the evening.

When confronted about the tape, the mother told officers she took the child to a relative's house in the midst of a dispute with her husband and then made the call to report her son missing.

The woman was taken into custody and the young boy is reported to be okay.
