SAN ANTONIO -- Amateur photographers throughout South Texas were enamored by a gloriously big and bright full moon on Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.
Although the spectacle in the sky was not the second full moon of the months, it is still considered a blue moon. According to space.com, the lesser-known definition of a blue moon is the third full moon that occurs in a season that has four. Most seasons have only three full moons.
Full moons for summer 2013:
- June 23
- July 22
- Aug. 21
- Sept. 19
The 2013 summer season started June 21 and ends Sept 21.
