ATASCOSA COUNTY -- Two people were killed early Tuesday morning in an head-on accident about two miles west of Poteet.

A spokesperson with the Department of Public Safety said the driver of a Pontiac crossed the center line on FM 476 and hit an oncoming Honda just before 7 a.m.

The Honda burst into flames, police said, killing both the driver and passenger. They were identified as Dwayne Depute, 29, and Columbus Norment, 33, both from Poteet.

Police said the driver of the Pontiac was flown to University Hospital in critical condition. He was identified as Daniel Rivera, 27.
