An Austin homeowners' association says its residents aren't picking up after their pooches, so they want to use DNA testing to match the pups with the business they leave behind.
Residents were surprised when they received emails from their HOA explaining they will be required to submit a sample of their dogs DNA.
The association says because droppings keep showing up in the neighborhood common areas, they want every dog in the neighborhood have their DNA taken and kept on file.
Resident's say they think this is extreme.
When you start regulating people's dog's poop, I think that's about as far down the line as you can get. I don't know, maybe they'll come up with something. I don't know maybe they'll start regulating our poop. I don't know , one homeowner said.
The HOA issued a statement saying the DNA testing is a measure of last resort, but they considering it.
