SAN ANTONIO -- Students at Lanier High School are competing to come up with the best cheer ... in Spanish.

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, San Antonio Independent School District Board of Trustees member Patti Radle sponsored the competition.

Students were allowed to compose an entry as a group or individually. The crowd-favorite cheer won $100 during a pep rally Friday morning.

The winning cheer will be performed during the Lanier vs. Highlands High School football game Friday night. The Owls are rivals with the Voks.
