Their two dogs, Sassy and Cowboy, died in a house fire last Thursday. Now a local church is helping to make sure the family doesn't suffer any more than they already have.
At least I had hope, said Devin Isham as she covered her mouth and wept over her dead dogs.
She recounted the moment the fire marshal told her they did not make it.
Then he walked out and said they were gone, she said. Her two little girls ages 2 and 10 were devastated.
Her family of four was not home when it burst into flames.
My husband and girls are not replaceable, so I'm very thankful we were being looked after that day, she said as she tried to see the bright side in this tragedy.
Now they are all in desperate need of clothes and toiletries. Their home in the 3400 block of Old Spanish Trail in Seguin was gutted.
Everything in all three bedrooms is gone, Isham added.
But her employer, Rush Truck Center, and a local church are stepping up to the plate with a donation drive.
While most of the items can be replaced, their beloved pets were lost forever.
If you would like to help the Isham family you can drop off a donation at the First Baptist Church in Seguin. Their number is (830)379-4208.
Monetary donations can be made at any Woodforest National Bank in Walmart stores. The account number is: 1651350181.
Sizes needed include:
- girls size 3T tops and bottoms;
- girls size 7 shoes,
- girls size 14 top,
- girls size 16 bottoms,
- girls size 13 shoes
Devin Isham says she had also done Christmas shopping for the girls before the fire. All the gifts were lost.
