There is some good news about the drought and the upcoming hurricane season in a report that was just released.

Experts at Colorado StateUniversity are forecasting a below-average hurricane season. They believe the weather phenomenon called El Nino may be returning soon. El Nino can allow for increased wind shear over the tropicalAtlantic, making it difficult for storms and hurricanes to form and straighten.

Past ElNino events have showed a history of being good news for Texas.El Nino typically brings increased rainfall and slightly below normal temperatures.

El Nino could return just in time for our typical dry season in summer and fall.

Hurricane Ike in 2008 was the last timeTexas had a hurricane hit land.
