SAN ANTONIO -- La Vernia is a small town with only about 930 soul, and some of these people are just hearing the news. Many say they are shocked.

Aseventh grade teacher inLa Vernia is in jail on adrug chargeas well as several other serious charges.

Holly Marsh is charged with possession of a controlled substance, evading arrest, resisting arrest and assault on a public servant.

But, the website for La Vernia Junior High School in theshows Marsh is a 7th grade English instructor, who also teaches Creative Drama.

A check with the Texas Education Agency shows Marsh is a certified teacher in Texas, but the allegations against her have not made it to, SBEC, the board that investigates alleged teacher misconduct.

The 32-year-old suspectis in the Wilson County jail in lieu of bonds totaling $40,000.

Administrators with the La Vernia Independent SchoolDistrictare out for spring break and could not be reached for comment.
