DALLAS -- A woman was able to walk through Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport's security checkpoint and board a plane with a firearm in her purse, the Transportation Security Administration confirmed this morning.
The TSA said the 65-year-old unidentified woman walked away from the checkpoint before the screening process was completed. Agents reached out for help in their search for the woman at about 6:19 a.m.
Law enforcement and TSA agents were able to locate the woman on board an American Airlines plane parked at Gate D31 and brought her back to the screening area for a re-screen, where they discovered a .38 caliber revolver in her purse.
TSA officials said the incident was resolved by 8:07 a.m.
The woman was taken into custody by Dallas police and will be charged with places weapons prohibited, a third-degree felony.
