SAN ANTONIO -- Walmart shoppers were treated to a bizarre scene on Saturday afternoon as firefighters rescued a man who became stuck while climbing into a drainage ditch.

Dozens of spectators watched and recorded the rescue on their cell phones outside the Walmart store in the 1400 block of Austin Highway around 2:30 p.m.

San Antonio fire Capt. Michael Moore said the 44-year-old man got his legs in and discovered he couldn't go any further and then was unable to free himself at that point.

The man was wearing what firefighters described as a pink body suit with women's underwear.

It took firefighters about 30 minutes to chisel away part of the concrete in order to free the man's legs.

Moore said the man admitted it was his second time trying to enter a drainage ditch and he was told by a computer in the sky that he was suppose to do that.

He was taken to San Antonio police headquarters for mental evaluation.
