SAN ANTONIO -- Two men accused of setting fire to a Denny's restaurant over poor service have been arrested.

San Antonio police on Wednesday released photos of the men from surveillance video at the Denny's store on I-35 near Rittiman Road. Click here to view the surveillance images.

It didn't take long for the public to help identify the unruly customers.

Ryan Monroe, 26, and Christopher Maddocks, 24, were both arrested and charged with arson. They were each taken to Bexar County Jail on a $20,000 bond.

Lupita Corbet, Denny's vice president of human resources, said police called her on Thursday morning to tell her two men have been arrested in connection to the Dec. 16 fire.

I couldn't be happier, she said in a phone interview with Just knowing that our employees and our guests are going to be safe, and also putting the word out there that if you do something like this, you're going to be caught.

According to police, the men became upset with the wait staff and threw a burning object at a live Christmas tree on their way out. The tree quickly ignited and spread to the ceiling, causing an estimated $150,000 in damages.

Corbet said all of the employees and customers got out of the restaurant safely, but were left seriously shaken. She said some workers have been worried that the men may come back when the restaurant finally reopens on Feb. 1.

Corbet said she thinks the men were upset with the waiting time, although she isn't sure. Usually when a customer is unhappy with service, they just don't leave a tip.

I don't really understand trying to catch a building on fire two weeks before Christmas with people inside the building, she said.
