Crash investigators believe a red-light runner is to blame for a fatal crash near the Toyota plant on San Antonio's south side that killed one man and injured another.

Bexar County Sheriff's deputies said a man driving a silver Lexus was traveling south on Applewhite Road near the Toyota plant at about 10 p.m. Thursday when he ran through a red light at the intersection of Lonestar Pass, slamming into the driver of a white Chevy Blazer.

The Blazer flipped over several times, and the driver was killed instantly, deputies said.

The driver of the Lexus was airlifted to University Hospital. His condition was not known.

The intersection was closed to traffic for nearly six hours while deputies investigated the crash and crews cleared the scene.

Deputies said speed was also a factor in the crash.
