In the wake of an oil tanker explosion that sent three people to the hospital Thursday evening, Pearsall's fire chief had this message for his community: Get used to it, because it could happen again.
One person was airlifted to San Antonio due to the remote area of the incident off FM 581 and I-35.
Fire officials said the oil tank heated up and exploded at about 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
It took 30 firefighters from four fire departments to bring the blaze under control.
With the development of the Eagle Ford Shale heating up, Pearsall's fire chief had a warning for residents.
We're seeing more and more, and it probably won't be the last, said Persall Fire Chief Placido Aguilar. I'm just glad no one got seriously hurt and everyone is walking away from it.
A few nearby trailers also were destroyed in the fire.
Fire officials said they're still not sure what caused the explosion.
