SANANTONIO -- Would you like to lose weight, get healthy, and earn thousands of dollars at the same time? Then you might want to sign up for the new H-E-B Slim Down Showdown.
H-E-B Slim Down Showdown will reward the winner with $10,000
H-E-B customers from all over the state of Texas are being offered a challenge: four months to drop some pounds and forge a healthy lifestyle.
Making a protein shake in the break room is a new routine for Clayton Miller.
The 32-year-old business analyst for H-E-B took part in an employee Slim Down Showdown. He shed an impressive 68 pounds off of his 330-pound frame in four months.
I just didn t realize how lethargic I had gotten and how the things that I love to do, sports and stuff, really I stopped doing them primarily because of my weight, Miller said.
After his Showdown victory, he s maintained his healthy ways. He s lost more than a hundred pounds now. He runs, bikes and exercises for fun.
It wasn t some crazy fitness workout, Miller stressed. And it wasn t a diet like you would see a movie star do. It was just how to be a healthier you, how can you live to be a healthier you.
H-E-B is launching a new Slim Down Showdown for customers. Applications are available online now.
Send us a quick video, explained Shannon Hernandez, H-E-B Manager of Partner Communications and Culture. Tell us why you d like to be in the Slim Down Showdown. And we re going to choose 25 from across the state to compete.
What s at stake? The winner, whoever has the best health improvement overall, will get $10,000.
It s really just going to be something that I think is just going to take off like wildfire across the state of Texas, Hernandez commented.
Miller uses his big change to inspire his coworkers. He thinks customers will benefit, too.
Oh, I m super excited, he said. I think if they really embrace this program, they ll be amazed at what they can accomplish in 16 weeks.
