In opening statements underway Wednesday morning famed Texas attorney, Dick DeGuerin, said there was no concrete evidence to puthis clientaway.

He said police conducted a sloppy investigation, and that the evidence isn't enough to convict Jon Thomas Ford of the 2009 murder of Alamo Heights resident Dana Clair Edwards.

The 44-year-old defendant told detectives he had last seen his ex-girlfriend alive at a New Year's Eve party, but that he went home before midnight, then spent he holiday with his folks in Rockport.

But, prosecutors are trying to point out some inconsistencies in Ford's story. They say, based on where his cell phone was tracked, that he may not have been in Rockport.
