SAN ANTONIO -- UIW had been looking to build an estimated $25 million campus on Fox Tech's unused football fields, but in the end they just didn't get enough private funding to make it happen.

In January, UIW signed an agreement with the San Antonio Independent School District to explore a location for the school on the three acres of fields. Building at this location depended upon significant private donations over a short period of time.

But the funding came up short.

While we are disappointed that this project will not come to fruition at the Fox Tech campus, we wish UIW well on this endeavor wherever the school ends up, SAISD Superintendent Dr. Sylvester Perez said.

UIW said it has two locations it's considering: Datapoint Drive in conjunction with UIW's School of Optometry and Brooks City Base.

The school said both are viable alternatives and would allow them to move forward on accreditation and maximize resources needed to build the school.

By the end of spring the Commission on Osteopathic Accreditation process requires that UIW identify a specific location for the future school.
