HOUSTON An Amber Alert was issued Monday for an 11-year-old girl who was allegedly abducted by her mother, the Trinity County Sheriff s Office said.
Around 1 p.m. Savannah Hurley was abducted by her mother when CPS came to remove the child from her custody, deputies said. Investigators said the mom, Shelly Jean Hurley, is a known drug user and had a violent confrontation with the CPS worker at the time of the abduction.
Hurley allegedly threatened to run over the CPS worker with her car as she escaped with the child, deputies said.
Authorities initially believed the mom was heading from The Woodlands to Florida. The Houston-area Amber Alert was cancelled overnight after it was determined they were no longer in the area.
Now it s believed the mom took her child to the Garland/Dallas area.
Savannah is a white female, who is about 4 foot 10 inches tall and 120 pounds, authorities said. She and her mom may be traveling in a maroon 1996 Subaru Legacy station wagon. The vehicle has Alabama plates, #48738AZ.
