HOUSTON University of Houston offensive coordinator Mike Nesbitt has resigned following the team s 30-13 loss to Texas State on Saturday, head coach Tony Levine announced Monday.
Assistant coach Travis Bush, offensive coordinator at UTSA last season before resigning in February to join the UH staff, will take over play-calling duties, Levine said. Bush will also coach the quarterback position for the program.
Director of Player Personnel Ken McClintock will take over Bush s role of coaching running backs.
We wish Mike the best in his future endeavors and thank him for his contributions to the Houston program, said Levine. We are confident in Travis and his play-calling ability moving forward.
Monday s announcement marks the third time in Bush s career he has handled play-calling duties for a program. Before going to UTSA in 2010, hespent three seasons as the co-offensive coordinator at Texas State.
At Texas State, Bush s 2009 offense finished eighth nationally in passing and finished with 422 yards per game in total offense. Under his tutelage, quarterback Bradley George was named the 2009 Southland Conference Player of the Year.
