For a limited time only, you can earn a huge reward for getting a suspected criminal off the streets. Each month the Texas Department of Public Safety will feature an offender from the Texas 10 Most Wanted list and if you provide a tip while that person is being featured, you could earn a $15,000 reward. Texas Crime Stoppers tips are guaranteed to be anonymous.
This month, DPS is making the offer for tips leading to the arrest of 32-year-old Javier Cortez Jr.
Investigators say Cortez is believed to be a member of the Tango Blast gang. He is wanted in connection to the murder a 29-year-old victim. They say the charge stems from a 2010 Harris County robbery in which an accomplice shot the victim twice, and Cortez allegedly stood over the victim, shooting him nine more times.
Authorities arrested the accomplice, but Cortez has avoided capture, so far. They say Cortez may be living in Matamoros, Mexico under an alias. DPS says the $15,000 reward will be paid out even if Cortez is captured in Mexico.
Cortez is described as being 5-feet-5-inches tall, about 142 pounds. His last known address was in Pasadena where his family and children live, but authorities say he was also been seen in Wharton County in the El Campo area, including Danevang.
