SANANTONIO-- The Rape Crisis Center is having its first 5K run/walk to benefit the non-profit group.
The Rape Crisis Center provides free crisis intervention, advocacy, counseling and education in Bexar County and surrounding areas.
President & CEO Lynn Blanco said the center has supported victims of sexual assault for more than 35 years. The Center's goal is to assure that rape victims and other survivors of sexual violence receive proper and expeditious medical care, sensitive police response and justice.
We would now like to take our support outside the center and into the community, Blanco said. Our Run 4 Hope gives the community the ability to support the center financially in addition to supporting its efforts to provide comprehensive services to survivors and their families.
Everyone is invited, ages 14 and up are welcome to run or walk. For more information go to www.active.com or www.rapecrisis.com. Online registration ends February 24, but you can also register the day of the event. Registration is $20 if done by February 18, $25 if done by February 25 and registering in person will cost $30.
We look forward to seeing the community support by their participation in our first Run 4 Hope 5K, Blanco said. Through their participation the public is helping to build a bridge to hope, help and healing to victims of sexual assault and their families.
