SAN ANTONIO -- The funeral services have been set for the two San Antonio children who died following a major car accident on N.W. Loop 410 earlier this month.

The viewing for 6-year-old Amaya Smith and her 4-year-old brother, Nicholaus Epps, will be held at the Lewis Funeral Home, located on the east side, starting at 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Friday, the funeral will start at noon at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, located in the 1000 block of N. Walters St., followed by a reception at Tree Mount Temple Church at 3 p.m.

The siblings and their mother, 27-year-old TaShawn Smith, were involved in a head-on collision with another vehicle in the early morning hours of March 7th.

Police said a male driver in his 30s was traveling westbound on the highway when he tore through the concrete median, crossed over into oncoming traffic and struck the vehicle carrying TaShawn Smith and her two children.

Young smith passed away at an area hospital the same day as the accident. Epps died just six day later.

TaShawn Smith was also severely injured in the wreck and has undergone surgical procedures to repair her legs. The two-time war veteran is an active U.S. Army reservist currently serving at Ft. Sam Houston.

An online benefit account has been set up to help Smith cover the funeral expenses and medical bills, including her own. For more information on how to help, click here.
