Kansas City shooting victim a recent Austin high school grad
AUSTIN-- The victim killed in Saturdaymorning's Kansas City shooting, Kasandra Perkins, attended high school in Austin.
Kasandra Perkins spent a lot of her childhood in the Dallas area but graduated from Anderson High School.
Perkins is the cousin of former Longhorn football player Jamal Charles' wife. Charles' is a player for the Kansas City Chiefs, the same team Belcher played for.
The 22-year-old moved to Kansas City to be with boyfriend Jovan Belcher.
The two had their first child together, a little baby girl named Zoey, this September. On Perkins's Facebook page, she has pictures of the three of them celebrating Thanksgiving as a family.
Reports from friends of the couple say the two may have had issues and an argument as recent as Friday night over Perkins coming home late from a concert.
We heard that they had been arguing in the past as far as recently they had been arguing before the shooting occurred this morning, Kansas City police officer DarrinSnapp said.
All day the incident has been making national headlines. Friends and family members are posting pictures and condolences on numerous social websites online.
Perkins family is gathering at her former home tonight in far East Austin. They are asking for privacy.
Perkins graduated from Anderson High In 2009.
