Joe Conger got his start in Lubbock, Texas. As a cub reporter and anchorman, he made the mistake of discussing newscast improvements with his news director. He responded: "Joe, I don't pay you to think; you're just there to keep the commercials from slapping together." Undeterred, Joe has pursued his passion for storytelling for more than 20 years. It has taken him from the dusty plains of West Texas chasing tornadoes to tail-hooking onto aircraft carriers off the coast of Florida, and chronicling the elderly victims of Hurricane Katrina. But it is the story of the underdog, the misaligned, or the malfeasance of public officials that makes Joe's day. And he enjoys pursuing them all. His work has garnered him many awards, including AP recognition, Lone Star Awards in 2008-2012, and a pair of Emmys in 2005 and 2010. Joe has been working at KENS-TV since 2001. He recently remarried, adding a wonderful wife and two step-children to his "Brady Bunch." All four adolescent children have no idea how much digging he will do into their friends' and families' backgrounds if necessary.
