Bridget Smith is an Emmy-Award winning journalist and currently the host of Great Day SA and Great Day Sunday, San Antonio's No. 1 Local Entertainment/Lifestyle Program. Bridget is a San Antonio girl who was born and raised right here in the Alamo City.

This proud Texas native is a graduate of St. Gerard's Catholic High School and St. Mary's University, where she graduated with honors, earning a degree in English Communication Arts.

After graduation, Bridget was offered a nightly spot on KENS 5 Eyewitness News at 10, where she developed her skills and became an award-winning features reporter. Aside from her colorful stories on the most interesting people and places around San Antonio, Bridget has interviewed countless names on Hollywood's list of celebrated music, movie and TV stars.

On the journey toward building her career, little did she know Nashville and country music was on her radar! Four years in a row, Bridget became a staple on the red carpet, covering the Country Music Awards in Nashville for KENS 5 and CBS News.

Tired of the night beat, her popular segment "Bridget's Beat" soon found a home on KENS 5 Eyewitness News at 5 and 6. In-between reporting, Bridget got her first hosting experience as co-host of the Texas-based game show "Lone Star Know It Alls," which aired in various markets across Texas.

After a year of taping game shows while continuing to report full time, Bridget accepted an invitation from a local film producer to try her hand at acting. She was eventually cast in the independent feature film "Hummingbird on a Lift," which is now a part of the Smithsonian Institute's permanent collection in New York City.

Bridget devotes much of her spare time to working on behalf of numerous charities and organizations that are close to her heart. "San Antonio Fighting Back" recognized Bridget for her work as host during the "Guiding Our Future" mentoring telethon, which helped more than 5,000 children across San Antonio find mentors in education.

In her spare time, Bridget is an accomplished musician who got her roots in church, where her love for playing gospel music began.

"I'm from this city and I love this city, and more than anything, I truly love the people in it. When it comes to children, charity and my community, there is no question that these are the most important things. In everything, my intention is to give back and use my name for good."
