There are new developments in the Sam Hurd case. We now know why the former Dallas Cowboys pleyr was arrested again this summer while free on bond for drug charges — and it wasn't just for failing a drug test.
Documents obtained by News 8 show that federal agents have testimony from Jesse Chavful, "Hurd's co-conspirator and cousin," that Hurd bought 30 pounds of marijuana "packed in a blue ice chest" in May while out on bail. Federal investigators said he paid $10,500 for the drugs.
Hurd also admitted that he had used marijuana on two occasions after he was released on bond.
U.S. Attorney Sarah Saldana asked the federal court to determine whether Hurd's pre-trial release should be revoked.
Hurd, a San Antonio native, is set to go on trial in October for allegedly trying to form a drug ring by trafficking in cocaine and marijuana.
