Mayor Taylor not backing down from wager with Houston mayor

SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio Mayor Ivy Taylor is not backing down from the friendly wager she made with Houston’s mayor earlier this week.

On Wednesday before Game 2 of the Spurs and Houston Rockets matchup, Mayor Taylor tweeted a picture of the Mayor’s Office rocking their silver and black with the caption, “Win tonight! Then, we take the series.”

Mayor Taylor and Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner placed a friendly wager before Game 1 on Monday.

In a press release, Mayor Taylor referred to the fact that it’s been 22 years in the making since the Spurs last played the Rockets in the playoffs was in 1995.

“It doesn’t matter what happened back then. This series is all about what’s happening now,” Mayor Taylor said in the release. “And after our Spurs pull off the series, Mayor Turner will have to show his San Antonio spirit.”

If the Spurs win the series, Mayor Turner agreed to wear a Spurs t-shirt for one business day. If the Rockets win, Mayor Taylor will have to sport Rocket’s gear.

The Spurs lost Game 1 of the series, but that hasn’t dampened the spirit of the Spurs Nation.
