Artist creates Spurs masterpieces on pumpkins

Arthur Alaquinez said he's at a loss for words after the team shared his artwork on their Facebook page, generating hundreds of shares and thousands of likes.

A San Antonio artist is using pumpkins to show his support for his hometown NBA team.

This Halloween, Arthur Alaquinez said he's at a loss for words after the Spurs shared his artwork on their Facebook page, generating hundreds of shares and thousands of likes.

"I was honored," he said when he saw his carved pumpkin of Danny Green was shared. "Word got back to me that he actually liked the picture and had it on his phone."

The self-taught artist often creates wood carvings but changed his canvas to pumpkins four years ago. He uses spoons, screwdrivers- anything he can find around the house.

Most recently, Alaquinez carved the Spurs Coyote, but he has also done the entire team roster. For Alaquinez, it's all about the art, and he's just glad he can represent the team he loves so much.
