It might be the wildest 2 seconds of a football game.
10 years ago, on October 27, 2007, Trinity University made football history with the "Mississippi Miracle."
Down 24-22 with just :02 remaining in the 4th quarter, the 5-1 Trinity Tigers had one last chance to take down the undefeated Millsaps Majors in a Division III inter-conference matchup.
With the ball outside field goal range and time for only one more snap, the Tigers needed a miracle to move the ball 60 yards for the winning score. And a miracle is what the team delivered, with a final play involving seven players and 15 laterals. It all started with a nine-yard pass.
It took more than a minute for the Tigers to reach the end zone and take the lead. It was enough to put the DIII team on the college football map.
The highlight played on Sportscenter that evening and throughout the college football season. That fall, the play won the Pontiac Game Changing Play of the Year, winning Trinity University $100,000. The team even attended the 2008 ESPYs as a Play of the Year nominee.
While the school doesn't have the national championship pedigree or the world-class recruits of other colleges in the state, the San Antonio team won't be forgotten in the football world for a long time.
